SEC 2007 Conference Update

Greetings from the Sustainable Enterprise Coalition!

SEC 2007 Conference Update:
Its just a few months since the close of the SEC 2007 conference and already we are seeing progress toward the “Vision of 2027” presented at the conference. The team of visionaries presented a perspective of what is readily achievable—and we all became involved in discussing what we can do now to make it a reality.

Follow this link to see the Graphic Recording Posters. These beautiful records of the conference, done in real-time, were created by Leslie Salmon-Zhu.

Our group of 300 participants and 50 sponsors continue to work for sustainability in the North Bay with Sonoma Mountain Village setting an example with their green design. PG&E, Solarcraft, and North Bay Construction, inc., are all actively engaged in helping organizations to rethink how they can use their natural resources to increase profit and decrease impact on the planet. Sponsors such as Medtronics, and Agilent, continue to implement sustainability initiatives while the Arntz Family Foundation is an active supporter of sustainability in education through the Waldorf schools and community.

    A Sustainable 2007

    Greetings!

This has been an exciting year for the world of sustainability. In 2005, Gil Friend talked about how sustainability has reached the tipping point in the mainstream. In 2006, these are but a sampling of newstories in the Wall Street Journal:
-While Housing Withers, ‘Green’ Materials Bloom
-Arctic Melting May Clear Path to Vast Deposits of Oil and Gas
    -Biodiesel Powers Up on Financing
    -Emissions Caps Could Be Ruinous
    -Biodiesel Powers Up on Financing
    - Group Seeks Greenhouse-Gas Cuts
EU Sets 20% Reduction in Emissions by 2020

And for those of us who are working actively in sustainable business, we feel the rush of forward movement. Everyone wants to know ‘how do we do this sustainability thing… what are the practical next steps..how do we act?’

To address those questions with the most current information available, we are creating Sustainable Enterprise 2007, a two-day conference designed to catalyze action in the North Bay to further sustainable enterprise in business, government agencies, non-profits, and educational institutions.
